SNAPION | TANGIBLE USER INTERFACE TO CAPTURE MEMORIES
Snapion is a tangible user interface which is aimed at changing the experience of capturing moments. Mobile cameras, webcams and other such type of imaging devices are available in the market, but the experience of clicking photos with these devices does not have much to do with the context of “capturing moments”. Moments are unique and special which are often accompanied by emotions. Snapion is a novel interface which lets users capture their moments through intuitive interactions. It has a ring mounted above which has the form of the eye. Opening this ring and dropping it acts as a trigger for capturing the photo and storing it in the jar like form after the ring comes to rest are the few fundamental interactions. This interaction with the trigger ring is inspired from a film director’s board’s open close action. Also the prototype has intuitive controls for sharing these images, timing, zooming and storing the images in different folders represented by the buttons attached on its body. Thus the interactions and the forms all try to enrich the experience of clicking a photo in the context of capturing moments of the user’s life by making them more intuitive and simple.
